Welcome

This website offers a portal into the study of Modern Southeast Asia, a dynamic and ever-changing region, and one of the most culturally, ecologically, and politically diverse places on the planet. The accumulated information and links will introduce you to information on the modern Southeast Asian nation-states of Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, The Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Emphasizing diversity and differences as well as common regional themes, the sources, readings, and links move between rural and urban spaces, in and among upland and lowland environments, across deltas, through forests, into Export Processing Zones, and more. Enter here to learn more about academic resources for the study of Modern Southeast Asia, with a special focus on resources at Yale, and on the work of students in the Yale College anthropology course, Modern Southeast Asia.
