Alysia is learning about SEA!

Alysia Tan is a 2nd-year Yale-NUS student, of an undecided major, making a cautious venture into “South-East Asian Studies”. The last time she touched any sort of Geography or History class was when she was 14—that’s 6 years ago, so she’s feeling a little rusty. Back then, her learning felt limited by a very guided interpretation of South-East Asia’s history and culture. Since then, her interactions with the region have mostly been with its beaches and cuisine. This time, she hopes to develop a more nuanced understanding of the country and region that she’s grown up in.
