Duterte: Illegal killing to establish the law?

Recently, when back visiting my hometown of San Diego, I was discussing life and other things with a nurse, who was born and raised in the Philippines. I told her I was worried about their new president, Rodrigo Duterte, who, from my perspective at least, seems to be pushing the limits of the law, and trampling on human rights in order to establish “law and order.” She thought I was an idiot and told me that he was the best thing that ever happened to the Philippines.
