Elizabeth Qian-Wang joins the class

Hi! My name is Elizabeth, and I am a senior in Pauli Murray College originally from Boston, MA. I am double majoring in Economics and Sociology, but also love art history.

I’m looking forward to taking this course because in my past studies in Sociology and Economics, we have focused mostly on Western countries and the culture of these regions. As an Asian American, I believe it is especially important to learn about the rest of the world and the incredible diversity and multitude of cultures across the globe. I am fascinated by how societies combine their pasts with their visions for the future and navigate what it means to be modern, and I think Southeast Asia is one of the most dynamic and complex places to study this.
