Interference in the Senate?

After Liberal Senator Lelia De Lima was removed as chair of the Justice Committee, some are calling foul play. De Lima's allies in the Senate of the Philippines, along with independent groups, are outraged that they were not consulted about her removal, and they believe it was instigated by friends of President Duterte. The Palace rejects these claims in this article (http://www.mb.com.ph/andanar-malacanang-is-not-interfering-with-the-senate/) from the Manila Bulletin.

The Justice Committee has been investigating President Duterte for a number of charges. The Senate is looking into his extra-judicial killings of those affiliated with drug cartels in the Philippines. Also, the committee is investigating testimonies that while Duterte was mayor of Davao City, he killed a member of the Justice Department.

I found this article (http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/19/asia/duterte-de-lima-senate-replaced/) from CNN to be an interesting perspective. While many articles on the Manila Bulletin are shorter and imply no guilt, CNN appears to have a slight bias against Duterte, and goes a little further in-depth.
