Ryan Huynh joins the class

Hey everyone! I’m Ryan Huynh (he/him/his) and I’m a sophomore in Berkeley College. I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina and am currently zooming in from Seattle, WA. I’m undecided on my major right now but I’m planning to continue on the pre-med track and leaning towards a major in the social sciences (still lots to narrow down on!). My dad was born and raised in a city at the southernmost tip of Vietnam called Ca Mau. My Vietnamese identity is one that I’m always trying to learn more about and feel more attached to. I was never able to learn the language so I feel like I’m most connected to it through some traditions, values, and mainly the food :) I was fortunate enough to be able to visit Vietnam back in 2019 which was the first time that my dad visited since he came to the U.S. about forty years earlier as a Vietnamese refugee That trip in particular sparked my interest in further exploring Vietnam and Southeast Asia as a whole. I’m super excited to take this course with ya’ll!
